deep lung sounding cough

I’ve taken my 11 yr old Schnauzer mix to my vet regarding a deep lung sounding cough. After tests he saw a heart valve problem and a very thin trachea. “Shotz” is on 5.3 mg enalapril 2x daily, theophylline 100 mg 2x daily, and temeril-p 2mg 1x daily. The copd sounding cough is getting worse and constant and it looks like he struggles to breathe. Is euthanasia my next choice? He has a strong will to live. Thanks

I would suggest some medication to remove fluid from the lungs. We use either lasix or spironolactone. This may help keep Shotz comfortable a while longer.
