Canine Lupus

Our Jenny has been diagnosed with canine lupus which affects her nose. She is on 5ml prednisone every day except for winter when the dose is reduced to 5ml every other day. Her nose is healing nicely with no side effects from the prednisone except for the tip which is still pink. We keep her out of the sun and apply a holistic caster oil (Edgar Cayce)to tip of her nose to keep it from cracking and bleeding. Jenny seems to be responding quite well to both as a higher dose of prednisone did not agree well for her in the past. Can you advise further if there is any other information that may help such as a safe sun screen perhaps.
Thank you so very much for your time and advice. Sincerely, Susan Henry

We use Niacin twice daily orally at a dose of 500 mg for a 60 pound dog. We also use hemorrhoid cream twice daily to the nose. We have a good experience with Bull Frog sun screen applied after the hemorrhoid cream.
