i am writing in regards of my mom’s chihuahua, Ralli. Two days ago my mother was told that ralli’s liver was no longer working, he gives her a week to two months to live. Ralli was brought to the vets because she had an episode of sluggishness and lethargy, not eating and sleeping alot. This lasted six days. the vet said that there was nothing he could do right now, it would take two more days to get rest of test results back to see if any portion of liver working at all, we have not heard yet. He gave the dog baytirl at my mother’s request to at least try something, his response was it can’t hurt.
Today ralli is her old self, running around and right at my mother’s feet. I am confused as to what would cause this dog to go threw these episodes and then pop right back up. Ralli was given rimadyl a month ago and this is when her very first episode happened and when asked the vet about it he did not bat an eye. I have read many negative reports on this drug and can’t help but think this was a contributing factor in what is happening to my mother’s best friend. Do you think that a second opinion is needed because the dog is not acting like a dog who is dying?
