How to keep the dog from eating the cat poop

I have a female terrier/cocker mix. I also have 2 indoor cats with 2 litter boxes. Everybody gets along. I have a dickens of a time keeping the dog from eating the cat poop.

I try to keep the litter boxes cleaned out twice a day. The dog gets plenty to eat plus treats. This has been going on about 6 yrs. since we found the dog as a stray. Mainly the dog gets to the litter boxes in the night which is why I scoop the boxes just prior to going to bed. It is impossible to keep her locked away so she doesn’t have access to the boxes. Any ideas? Thanks,

First, let me say there is no problem with your dog! This is an unfortunate vice that is difficult to break. There is a product available named Forbid that can be mixed with your cats food which will impart a terrible taste to their stool. If your dog later tries it when you have stopped the Forbid she will start eating it again, so occasional use is sometimes required.
