I have a blue healer who has been drinking water excessively for about a year and a half.

Our vet has conducted tests to check for diabetes, thyroid malfunction, etc. and the tests’ numbers are not extremely out of normal range. Short of asking our vet to run the tests again, is there anything else that we should be looking for? Thank you!

If the problem has not been defined you will need to run additional tests to diagnose the problem. We would run an ACTH stimulation test and a low dose dexamethasone suppression test to rule out Cushing’s Disease. This is a disorder of the adrenal glands. One of the most prominent symptoms is excessive water intake.
