My dogs hair has been thinning and he has a yellowish crust like skin, his hair has gotten brittle feeling, and he’s starting to thin out on his back?

I’ve had him tested for cushings disease cancer, thyroid issues? Everything came back normal. He is a 11 year old chihuahua. I’ve tried coconut oil before baths, medicated shampoos, oil and vitamins in his food. Can this be food related? He is not the best eater but I do give him gourmet treats like apple smoked dog sausage, sweet potato wrapped in duck. Lately I’ve been feeding him eggs to improve his coat. My vet has run out of ideas…

Certainly ruling out hormonal diseases would be first on my list. Since you have done that the next step would be nutritional. Rechecking for thyroid and Cushing’s disease again in a couple of months would be warranted. I would try hemp oil supplementation, 2 ml orally once a day. We have also had some results from Missing Link Ultimate.
