I was hoping you could help me with more details ore a direction to go. I am currently on disability and my akita husky suddenly stopped walking. I spent thousands of dollars with a wrong diagnosis of two torn ACL’s. We only have xrays that doesnt show much of anything. She is taking Prednisone along with an array of meds to keep her out out pain and to stop anything that happened. This is the hardest desicion of my life and I desperately need an MRI to at least know whats causing her half paralysis. Least the next step will be easier. Please Help!

MRIs are typically only done at Teaching Hospitals or very large referral practices. At Teaching Hospitals the cost will sometimes be underwritten by teaching assistant grants. Try to contact the Veterinary Teaching hospital closest to you to see if this is possible. We do not have MRI capabilities at the Sanctuary hospital. We do offer hospice care for all types of mobility issues in dogs. Your ability to care for your dog and control pain should direct your decision process on what to do next. When we are unable to control pain we have no choice other than to let our friend go.
