Two vets confirmed pemphigus complex in my large otherwise very very active 12 year old female royal std poodle of 65 Pounds. She takes long walks and eats great! Also has fresh rotisserie sams chicken, broccoli, and cauliflower in her diet. Plus nutro ultra. Prednisone 10 mg 2x day, milk thistle 175 mg 2x day, synoviG4, And doxycycline 100 mg 2x day Help Maintain, but do not cure, the problem mainly with bulbous nose and red-pink gums. She has great gums, teeth with brushing and zymox gel otherwise, no swelling, absessed teeth.. Azathioprine 50 mg 1x day worked great but significantly raised her liver values. Should we try chlorambucil (cyclosporin)?

Thanks,

I have not personally had success with cyclosporin in the treatment of pemphigus. The addition of niacin 500mg twice daily may help. I have also had some success with alternating prednisolone and azathioprine very other day with animals that have problems with their liver enzymes. Complete elimination of symptoms is not a realistic goal.
